The launch of the new John Mattone and John Mattone Global website marks more than just a fresh design. It captures the evolution of a firm that started with a founder’s personal mission and grew into something much larger—a disciplined, global movement for meaningful leadership development.

I’ve been part of this story since 2021. And even in that relatively short time, I’ve seen how John Mattone Global (JMG) has stayed true to its roots while expanding its reach, its methods, and its leadership.

From Founder to Global Force

Founded in 2011 by John Mattone —widely recognized as one of the world’s top executive coaches—JMG has grown into a leadership development firm with impact across 55 countries. In 2025, John was named the world’s #1 executive coach for the sixth time in seven years by Globalgurus.org. JMG itself has been ranked among the top 10 executive coaching and leadership development firms globally by Worldwide Research and Statsdata.

Behind those accolades is a firm that remains boutique in its philosophy: personalized, discreet, and grounded in long-term impact. John still works privately with no more than 10–12 global CEOs or government leaders each year. The wider team—an expanding group of certified, credentialed coaches—brings that same high standard to clients across sectors and cultures.

Under the leadership of CEO Nicholas Mattone, JMG continues to scale with care. As Nicholas puts it: “We’re not growing just to scale. We’re growing to make coaching more accessible, more structured, and more meaningful—without losing what made us special in the first place.”

The Intelligent Leadership Framework

What has always resonated with me—and what I’ve integrated into my own coaching work—is JMG’s core philosophy: real leadership begins on the inside. The Intelligent Leadership (IL) model doesn’t start with behaviors, performance metrics, or communication styles. It starts with the inner core: character, values, emotional makeup, and self-awareness.

That inner work is what gives strength to the outer core—the visible leadership competencies like strategic thinking, decision-making, or executive presence. Without the inner core, the rest doesn’t hold.

This philosophy is backed not just by experience, but by data. It aligns with research from the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard Business Review, both of which consistently show that sustainable leadership depends more on values alignment and self-insight than tactical expertise alone.

Real Diagnostics, Measurable Change

JMG’s coaching engagements are structured for transformation, not transaction. Programs typically run six to twelve months and begin with deep assessments—often combining proprietary tools like the Mattone Leadership Enneagram Inventory (MLEI) and the Strategic-Tactical Leadership Index-360 (STLI-360) with in-depth interviews and leadership shadowing that reveal how a leader operates beyond the surface.

But what truly sets the approach apart is LeaderWatch, a proprietary tool that tracks real behavioral change over time. It allows leaders to measure their development at 6-, 9-, and 12-month milestones—ensuring that growth is not just perceived, but visible and reportable.

This is not about checking boxes or attending a one-off workshop. It’s about shifting individual behavior, team dynamics, and—ultimately—organizational culture.

A Community of Coaches with a Shared Mindset

The Intelligent Leadership framework is now being delivered by certified coaches in over ten languages across five continents. The JMG certification program, recognized as one of the world’s top five ICF-accredited executive coaching certifications, is rigorous and focused—not only on methodology, but on mindset.

Because leadership, at this level, isn’t about fixing problems. The leaders we work with aren’t broken. They’re simply not done growing.

One of the most powerful patterns I see? The most successful leaders are often the ones who raise their hand and say: “I haven’t made it yet. How can I keep evolving?”

That kind of honesty takes courage—and it’s far more impactful than charisma alone. In my experience, sustained leadership growth depends not just on presence or personality, but on consistency, character, and the willingness to keep doing the work. That mindset defines the JMG community—coaches and clients alike.

So yes, the new website is live. And it’s packed with new insights, programs, tools, and ideas. But behind the digital upgrade is something deeper: a clear reflection of what John Mattone set out to build over a decade ago—and what now connects a growing, global network of leadership professionals.

As John Mattone’s work consistently emphasizes: real leadership begins with who you are—not just what you do.
